Tips and Frequently Asked Questions

How to properly reboot a router/radio

Unplug the POWER to the router. Wait for the lights to go out. Plug it back in to the power source, wait for the lights to come on and stabilize. Normal operation conditions will be flashing white. This process will take about 90 seconds.

Look at the back of the router, there are 5 data ports (square holes), 4 are numbered 1 - 4 and one with a label internet or WAN, that may have a Yellow outline. The cable in the port with the yellow outline should go to a little box. The little box is a DC injector. The DC injector is used to power the Radio mounted on the outside.

The DC injector has 2 data ports, one is marked POE and the other one is marked LAN. Connect the LAN port cable to the internet (WAN) port of the Router. IT SHOULD NEVER BE CONNECTED TO THE PORTS LABELED 1, 2, 3 OR 4. There are 2 procedures that can be followed to Reboot the Radio:
  • Unplug the DC injector power cord.
  • Unplug the POE cable from the DC injector.
The other end of POE cable goes outside and plugs into the Radio. The DC injector cables should never be plugged into the wrong port (see diagram).

How do I get my new router authorized to be on the network?

Call support and coordinate the installation of a new router. Connect it to the network (see diagram). Connect the LAN port cable to the internet (WAN) port of the Router. IT SHOULD NEVER BE CONNECTED TO PORTS LABELED 1, 2, 3 OR 4.

Support needs to know the make, MAC address and model of your new router. The MAC address of the router can be found on the router box that the router came in when it was purchased. It can also be found on the underside of the router along with the serial number. Support needs the MAC last four numbers and letters.

Once your new router is connected to the network and turned-on text the requested info to 951 491 1256 or via email to support@pollybutte.net .

After the router's MAC is registered with the Gateway Server, you can attempt the basic setup of Your new router. This typically involves at least completing the registration with the router manufacter.

What equipment do I need for my install?

It is recommended that the customer purchase from Amazon a NetGear NightHawk Series R6400 or R6700 or R7000 router. Something in that series will be a good choice. A reasonable target Cost would be about $80.

When is tech support available to me?

Free technical support is available during normal business hours.

After hour Phone tech support is free for the first 15 min.

After hour support is billable on a case-by-case basis depending on services requested by the customer.

What does it cost for installation?

Ordinary residential installation is billed at $100 plus first month service.

These charges are billed after the service is installed based on the work that is performed at the time of Install. A typical installation will take about 2 to 3 hours. If the router is on site when the work is performed then it will be configured at no additional cost.
The radio is mounted outside where there is line of sight to the Access Point. If the cable run to the router is excessive there may be additional charges. This will be discussed in advance and a price will be agreed to before the work is completed.

Is there a contract?
